ICAS preparation support will continue to be offered in A5 during lunchtimes in Term 3 for any Middle School and Junior School students enrolled in the English and Maths ICAS exams coming up in July and August. However, this slot is also available for any student from Junior, Middle or Senior Schools, who would like support or to chat about any of the competitions and opportunities mentioned on this webpage. Mrs Gooch can help you with getting your entries in, nutting out ideas, getting resources you might need or connecting you with other students who might be interested in the same thing. So Thursday lunchtimes, Term 3, A5 with Mrs Gooch - come on over.

Learning doesn't need to stop when you are not at school! Khan Academy offers free online courses in a wide range of topics. You can extend yourself in Maths or Science, or explore something new and different like astronomy, medicine, computer animation or art history. Give it a go.
If you see your future in business and entrepreneurship then The Brave Thinkers Programme is a great opportunity to test that out and get your CV looking fantastic. The Brave Thinkers Programme will be running in Palmerston North during the July school holidays as part of New Zealand Business Week and is open to Year 12 and 13 students from around New Zealand. Students will meet business leaders and also develop their own virtual companies and compete in a Dragon's Den style challenge (with a chance to win $3,000). Also note that students who participate in this and then go on to study at Massey University will get a $1,000 scholarship. Apply on their website, and contact Holly Gooch if you need help in doing so.
If you are a senior student keen on environmentally sound business practices, there is the opportunity for you to participate in the NZ Environmental Entrepreneurship competition. You work in teams of 3-4 and you may have students from other schools in your team. You will work with a mentor to develop your ideas for a solution to an environmental and business issue and present this to judges. For those of you who have done the BP Business Challenge before and liked it this is the thing for you. More info here.
