The National Association of Women in Construction is hosting a photographic exhibition as part of the Festival of Architecture in 2018. The exhibition is held at Resene Colour Shop, 77 Thorndon Quay (just around the corner from school) between 7am - 5pm from the 14th - 23rd September. Alongside the exhibition they are hosting an event on Tuesday 18th September 4pm - 7pm to celebrate 22 years of the National Association of Women in Construction. Flyers can be seen below.
Each year The University of Otago invites 400 current year 11 or 12 students from around the country to spend a week in Dunedin over their summer break exploring university life and a project of their interest with academics. Projects include for example, anatomy, anthropology, archaeology, classics, computer science, food science, genetics, immunology, marine science, nanochemistry, pharmacology, philosophy, electromagnetic radiation, physiology, politics, psychology, sports sciences, zoology and more. Students also get the opportunity to 'snack' on other topics in addition to their core project.
The cost of the programme is $675 which covers accommodation, meals and activities. Transport to the event is an additional cost. Scholarships are available to cover costs. Applications for the programme are due by Friday 19th October, and scholarship applications are due by 28th September. If you are from Maori descent, are a current year 11 or 12 student, and have an interest in exploring Otago University as a study option in the future, you can apply for the Poutama Hands-on at Otago scholarship. Hands-on at Otago is run on 13 - 18 January 2019 and participants get to experience a week of activities relating to a particular university subject such as Classics or Surveying with people from all over New Zealand, and stay in a University hostel. Te Auaha opened in Cuba Street earlier this year and is the Wellington city based campus of Whitireia Polytech and Weltec. They are holding an open day for potential students on 31 August 2018. Speech Language Therapists work in schools, hospitals and private practice. They work with clients who might have language developmental delays, head injuries, are recovering from strokes or have speech difficulties such as lisps or a stutter. They study a range of subjects including audiology, physics, biology, linguistics, psychology, and education as well as subjects that are specific to the profession. They also do a number of clinical placements during their training. Speech Language Therapy can be studied in Auckland and Christchurch. Massey University Speech Language Therapy School is hosting an Open Day in Albany, Auckland, on Thursday 23rd August. To apply to attend this day please see the application form attached.
