Engineering week takes place on the 13th - 16th August in Wellington. We have booked tickets for five different events which includes trips to Beca, Aurecon, Xero and WSP Opus suitable for year 10-13. If you would like to be a part of one of these trips, you will need to email me ASAP telling me which trip/s you would like to go on. It will be first in first served. Note that you can't do both trip 3 and 4 as they are on the same day. Similarly, you can't do both trip 3 and 5 as they are both the same trip, just on different days so we can get more students there. Here are the details of the 5 trips:
Trip 1 Monday 13th August 9am – 3.15pm Aurecon Year 10 Calling all future engineers! We have an action-packed engineering day planned for you, including plenty of hands-on activities to demonstrate the real-life applications of engineering. You'll have the chance to talk to and learn from lots of different types of engineers, including civil, structural, mechanical, chemical/process and earthquake engineers. Come along to get an insight into the groundbreaking technology Aurecon is using and learn how we apply our knowledge as engineers in bringing ideas to life. They are transforming their communities and changing lives through the structures they build, the products they manufacture, the services they provide, and the families they support. And we are right there alongside them. We are the problem-solvers – the thinkers, the creators, the planners and practitioners – who work together to make everyday better. We are 3000-plus professionals spread across 20 offices across the Asia Pacific. But we are One Beca. Beca would like to invite students to come along and learn about the discipline of engineering and the wonderful career opportunities it can provide. Our one day programme will consist of presentations by industry staff, a site visit and an exciting practical exercise which we hope will provide students with a better understanding of the many different streams one can take if pursuing a career in the engineering industry.
