One great way to keep on top of your learning is to regularly do a KWL chart, for each of your subjects. A KWL chart involves asking and answering three key questions about your learning:
If you can regularly ask yourself these questions and answer them, you are:
This simple 15 minute exercise is an effective and efficient homework task. Parents - this is a great one for you to do with your daughter. A KWL template is attached below for your use.
Dyslexie is a font style that is designed to make reading easier for people with dyslexia. For example, letters that are commonly confused are made more distinguishable, there are larger spaces between letters so they do not blur, and capital letters and punctuation are automatically shown in bold to help give a visual structure to a piece of writing. It can be used to write assignments in (the font can be changed at the end to Times New Roman before handing in), and electronic notes from teachers can be converted into this Dyslexie to make them easier to read. A great tip from one of our students that will be useful for many others.
Google Keep is a great app to help students with their learning and organisation. You do need to set up a google account which only takes a few moments, then download the app onto your phone. The app enables you to keep lists, photos, audio recordings and anything else you can think of all in the same place. For example, you could keep a photo of some notes taken on the board, a list of steps you need to take to complete a homework task, and a audio recording of your teacher answering a tricky question you have about an assignment. A particularly great feature is that when you audio record, it writes the spoken words down for you in a note.
